The Minnesota Journal of Law, Science & Technology formally invites the Minnesota law community to a discussion on recent changes in U.S. and international privacy and cybersecurity law.
Panels include U.S. Data Privacy & Cybersecurity Law updates, Sensitive Data and Civil Rights; and Cross-Border Data Transfers and International Governance.
Keynote addresses include Before the Algorithm: Race as a Technology of Surveillance with Prof. Emmanuel Mauleón, and Minnesota Privacy Law and State Regulation, which will be a conversation between Rep. Steve Elkins, the drafter of the MNCDPA, and Asst. Attorney General Sarah Doctor.
The event will be preceded by light refreshments and a happy hour co-hosted with the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) will follow.

Emmanuel Mauleón is an Associate Professor of Law at the University of Minnesota School of Law, where he teaches Criminal Procedure, Critical Race Theory, Critical Theories of Policing, and Property. He writes about the role police and other state security actors play in producing social, political, and legal regimes of domination and subordination. He served as a Greenberg fellow in the Critical Race Studies Program at the UCLA School of Law, a Policing and Technology fellow at the Policing Project at NYU, and a Liberty and National Security Fellow at the Brennan Center for Justice. He clerked for the Hon. Sarah Netburn in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York.
